Where is the year going!?

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Firstly apologises from us all that it has been so long since the last blog entry.

Time does fly and things are keeping us very busy….but we can’t believe it’s August already!

Darren is busy with his various businesses, including his supplement company PAS, which is doing great. Add that to his media work and Street Athletics and he has no time. Apart of course to spend of much of it with his wife and 3 kids!

Linford has been busy coaching European medalists! Well done too Mark LF and Conrad Williams who won medals recently in Barcelona at the European Athletics Champs.

I know many people including myself and Ron Roddan are very proud of them, especially after the horrible couple of years Mark has had.

I have been very busy with media work and loved doing the interviews for BBC 5Live at the recent Europeans. So much fun and so many medals! I finally got Mo Farah after all these years to stop calling me Merry! He did finally call me Kath!

We hope you are all having a good year and enjoyed the athletics.

For us, next stop Crystal Palace and the Aviva London Grand Prix!

Kath, Darren and Linford.

Well Done! Street Athletics 2009

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Hi all.

Well what a busy summer it has been.

One of our highlights, as always, is doing the STREET ATHLETICS.

On Saturday we had a great time at the National Final, which was in Manchester for the 5th year running.

Seeing so many kids having fun and getting the opportunity to be involved in racing on the streets is a pleasure for me and Darren to see. This was our dream when we set this up 5 years ago and every year we still get the same amount of enjoyment and pleasure doing it. Hard work, yes. Worth it, you bet!

The full results from the final are on the street athletics website, so a big well done to all those who took part in the Street Athletics this year. 20 regional heats and 11 cities and towns were represented in the final on Saturday.

Also if you went along and got involved in the Street Athletics Coaching Community Day’s with Katharine and Les, then well done too! We hoped you picked up some good tips!

Big up all the helpers, supporters and sponsors of the event including Sony and Nike, I think this year has to be our biggest and best yet.

Katharine MC’d the event and she was kept busy, but everyone had fun, so thanks again to all those involved. See you on the streets in 2010!

Best wishes

Linford & Darren

Happy New Year

lc.jpg A belated Happy New Year to everyone.

Already, as we all know, the year is flying by and the Indoor athletics season is in full flow.

I am happy to say my group of athletes have been digging in and training hard this winter. A few of the guys have stepped on the track and recorded some good times so far, which gives them confidence early in the year.

Soon myself and the group are off overseas for a spell of warm weather training. It is great for the body and mind after the cold of the winter months. Waking up to sunshine and having warmth on your back really can set you up for the season.

Being competitive I still jump in with guys and do a bit of training, even with age, I can’t let the the youngsters have it all their own way!

I hope the year for you is going as you want.

Best wishes

WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

FROM ……  ELITEMENTOR.COM

Just Awesome!

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Well we are all back from the Far East after what was a superb Olympic Games.

China hosted a wonderful 29th Olympiad!

All 3 of us worked long hours but throughly enjoyed the experience of working in the media.

So what was our highlight of the Games.? We all agree that both Michael Phelps and Usian Bolt was great, and of course we are all biased to track and field, so being in the Birds Nest Stadium to see Mr Bolt win 3 golds medals and break 3 World Records was very special.

We all hope you enjoyed the Games as much as we did. Seeing TeamGB do so well and finish 4th in the medal table was exceptional. Well done eveyone who played their part.

So back to reality and for us the athletic season is nearly over, just a couple more things to do with athletics for 2008.

Best wishes

Kath, Darren and Linford

Best wishes from all of us here at ELITEMENTOR…..

Back into it.

lc.jpgHi all.

Well the winter training sessions are well under way again, and I am frequently down coaching at Brunel University. It is very cold, but we do have luxury of the gym there and the indoor bit, which helps as all athletes hate the cold!

A couple of weeks ago I had a good time in London at the Urban Music Awards. I was presenting an award, and it’s nice to be reminded of the great talent we have in the UK.

So Christmas is coming and I am busy rushing around with the family trying to get presents. I can’t believe how quickly this time of year comes around, and how much kids change their mind on what it is they exactly want!

Here’s hoping your keeping warm where ever you are!

Best wishes

Lindford ChristieHi.

Well the last 2 weeks have been very very busy with the Street Athletics. Myself and Darren have met loads of kids and travelled from Scotland back down through to London, and had alot of fun, and seen alot of talent. The Grand Final is in Manchester on the 15th September, and we hope to continue to find british talent for the future. We were really pleased this year to have athletes we discovered with Street Athletics taking part in the English Schools and running really well….it shows that projects like this can make a difference. We know this country has talent, it’s just discovering it and giving it a chance.

On Friday I went to Crystal Palace to watch the Norwich Union London Grand Prix. I thought I know that voice in the stadium, and remembered that Kath was doing the infield presenting. I did chuckle when I saw her interviewing the 2 shot putters, Christain Cantwell and Reese Hoffa from the USA (World number 1 and 2), and Kath looked so small next to them!

So I am enjoying a little time at home with my family before the World Champs start. I agree with everyone when they say it isn’t going to be a great medal haul Championships for GB, we just don’t have the depth in the senior team at the moment, but after the summer’s results at the Junior Champs (and Kath reassuring me!) I know we have the talent coming through.

Best wishes

Linford
